SecureLog integrates into its server component the Enterprise version of the Sawmill analysis engine, core product of the eponymous British company, specialised in analytical and statistical treatment of log files. This engine provides search and filter operations on aggregate data, as well as dynamic report generation.
In addition, it is possible to select portions of log files to be analysed and prepare them by indexing, directly from the graphic control interface within the SecureLog server. However, such activity may also be performed in automatic mode on the incoming data, in order for these to be immediately available for analysis.
Generated statistics are dynamic. They are produced as HTML reports and allow for filter, drill-down or roll-up operations, as well as many other dynamic operations on hierarchically built semantic structures or hypercubes.
Therefore, the output data may either be viewed on screen in table or graphic form, or exported in CSV (Comma Separated Values) formatting. From such data it is possible to identify and emphasise immediately trends and patterns of the information comprised within the log files. Through filter customisation, including time parameters, it is possible to highlight information that is usually hidden amongst the large bulk of archived files.
SecureLog allows already at a native level to analyse over 800 log file formats; furthermore, by defining new templates that can be directly developed and implemented by the user it is possible to support any type of log file.
The Sawmill engine version itself was configured in order to fully exploit the features of the hardware on which the SecureLog platform is installed. As a result, the version supports multi-core and multi-processor systems, which are included in all models in the SecureLog palette.
